Meet David!

CPA | Senior Tax Manager

David De Graaf, CPA, is a Senior Tax Manager at EHTC. He started his EHTC career as a Manager in the Tax Department in January 2017, and was then promoted to Senior Manager in 2019. David is a graduate of Aquinas College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Prior to working with EHTC, David started his own company! He developed proprietary software and freight damage programs for Steelcase Inc.’s dealer network. The system was designed to drive freight damage costs out of the supply chain!

The skills David has learned over the last 20 years make him an essential source of knowledge for EHTC and its clients— he specializes in tax compliance, tax planning, and succession planning for start-ups to medium sized businesses.

Within the firm, his primary role is a Client Relationship Manager, where he offers guidance as a business advisor to closely held businesses and high-net wealth individuals. David also assists the Partners with the firm’s growing book of business, including the marijuana industry, service industry, construction, retail, wholesale, and manufacturing. David’s leadership within EHTC enables him to guide and assist in the advancement of other team members.

David’s favorite part of working at EHTC is the culture. He feels having a sense of curiosity and a desire to learn, plus a focus on client service, are necessary to be successful as a CPA. He believes EHTC team members possess this curiosity and enjoys being a part of the growth of the firm.

An Aquinas College alumnus, he’s a board member of Freedom House and Alpha Grand Rapids, as well as a volunteer for Calvary Church.

In his spare time, David enjoys adventuring outside and being in nature, whether he is camping, fishing, hunting, or gardening. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, three grandchildren and his dog.
