Meet Heather!
CPA | Tax Partner
Heather Kelbel, CPA, is a Tax Partner at EHTC. Heather has always enjoyed accounting classes, and has always been particularly interested in tax law which is what led her to pick a career in public accounting. Heather is a graduate of Grand Valley State University and a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
At EHTC, Heather services all areas of tax but the area she is most passionate about is closely held businesses and their owners. Her primary responsibilities include heading up the Tax Department, leading strategic growth of the tax practice, assisting the Recruitment team with retaining and recruiting top talent, and, above all, Heather loves helping her colleagues achieve their full potential!
A typical day in the life for Heather includes managing client relationships, reviewing and signing off on tax returns for all clients, mentoring and training staff, project management, and advising clients with business/accounting questions.
Heather is involved in pursuing top talent through recruiting and retention efforts, finding the right clients and professional network through business development and events.
Heather considers the most important aspect of her job at EHTC to be creating a collaborative approach with clients and EHTC team members to provide the most value to all. She loves working at EHTC because of the culture, the people, and the clients. Her best piece of advice is to always be willing to grow and learn new things. In the tax department, the ever-changing tax laws will always provide a new set of challenges to overcome and an opportunity for everyone to become a better tax professional.
Outside of work you can find Heather spending time with her husband and three kids. They enjoy cottage life on the lake, sun, relaxation, and camping trips together. She also enjoys golfing and hanging out with friends.
