Meet Drake!

Tax Senior Associate

After graduating from Grand Valley State University in 2020, Drake Shipman began his career in accounting as an intern at EHTC. He now serves as a Tax Senior Associate for the firm. He chose tax accounting as his profession because of the large variety in clientele and constant changes to tax laws, which always keeps his job interesting.

His role at EHTC requires him to spend most of his time preparing tax returns for various entities, including S-Corporations, Partnerships, and Trust. His main focus in the summertime is preparing tax returns for family offices.

Drake enjoys that his role is constantly evolving as he takes on new responsibilities, and says he truly enjoys the office culture at EHTC. Drake has played a key role in training, working with both interns and new team members. Additionally, he has been involved with intern and new staff recruitment, and software implementation teams at EHTC.

His best piece of advice for those looking to pursue a profession in business and finance is to apply for as many internships as you can, as early as possible, to find the company whose culture makes your workday enjoyable.

Outside of work, Drake can be found on the lakes— winter and summer! When lakes are not frozen, he’s always out fishing for fun and in tournaments. When the lakes are frozen, he enjoys skiing and snowmobiling.
