RECAP: 2022 Chipping for Charity Golf Outing
On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, EHTC hosted a SOLD OUT Chipping for Charity Golf Outing. This 34th annual event raised over $19,000 for Beer City Dog Biscuits, a local nonprofit striving to support their team of disabled adults develop valuable skills throughout every step of the dog biscuit baking process.
Since the event’s inception, nearly $350,000 has been invested into West Michigan non-profit organizations.
“I’m so proud of the EHTC team and the staff at Scott Lake Golf & Practice Center for working so hard for this year’s event,” said Dave Echelbarger, President of EHTC. “We are so thankful for an amazing charity partner like Beer City Dog Biscuits. They have been working tirelessly to create a meaningful work environment where everyone is treated with dignity, appreciation, self-work and gratitude, all while creating great products. It means the world to all of us to see the West Michigan community show up in this way.”
Beer City Dog Biscuits provides vocational training for over 250 individuals weekly with intellectual and developmental challenges through the creation of dog treats. All funds raised at this year’s golf outing will assist the nonprofit’s goal of hiring three part time employees in 2022. Beer City Dog Biscuits bakes 10,000 biscuits a day and 100% of their sales and donations are reinvested back into the mission of the organization.
“It’s a common misconception that our organization receives state and federal funding,” said Leslie Hooker, Co-Founder, Beer City Dog Biscuits. “We really rely on events like this to take us to the next level. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to be this year’s event recipient— we can’t wait to hire more staff members!
Chipping for Charity is a four-person “best ball” scramble where each team plays 18 holes of golf. Additional contests were held on the course, including Longest Putt, Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. This year the event attracted over 136 golfers.
