Meet Nick!

Assurance Manager

Nick Burris is an Assurance Manager at EHTC and has been a part of the team since 2019. He originally went to school for graphic design and animation and then transferred after his freshman year to Albion College, where he decided to pursue general business. After taking a couple of accounting classes, and liking the professors, he switched his major to accounting.

Nick started his professional career as an intern at a manufacturing company during college, and then was hired as an intern at an accounting firm in Jackson, where he was brought on full-time after graduating. Now at EHTC, he’s found his favorite part of being on the team is the culture.

In his role at EHTC, Nick performs a number of tasks, from compilations to reviews to audits— each with an increasing level of complexity, depending on clients’ needs and level of comfort they require to ensure their financial statements are accurate. For compilations, he simply prepares financial statements and any desired disclosures. For reviews, he goes more in depth with the client to discuss and document their yearly financial activity. Audits involve anything from communicating with clients to preparing financial statements to carrying out a detailed test of transactions. Nick also provides added value for clients with consulting-type activities, or helping them understand an accounting issue and developing good practices.

When talking with others who might be interested in the field of finance, he tells them it can get pretty stressful at times and to be sure to take mental breaks and do something relaxing.

Outside of work, you can find Nick spending time with his dog, Bourbon. He also enjoys hanging with friends, bar hopping, trying new restaurants, and traveling.
